What if I said…

I learn better from women!

Sailing can be intimidating. I mean, the boat is expensive, there’s an entirely new language to learn and men seem to come naturally equipped to sail.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had the opportunity to work with some fabulous male sailing instructors. In fact, it was two different men that helped me work through my massive fears around sailing. I owe them a lot.

Now that I’m chartering my own sailboats and building my skills I’ve found it SO much more comfortable, relatable, and inspirational to learn from women.

Is that what you’re feeling too?

Introducing

Women Only Sailing Retreats

Come build your sailing skills in the comfort and support of amazing women … like you!

Every retreat is a custom experience based on what you, and the other crew members, need to work on in the sailing journey. With a maximum of four per retreat, including the skipper, everyone gets a lot of time to practice their “weak” spots and become a stronger sailor!

What you can expect

When you join us on one of these retreats

1

Relax and have fun …

First and foremost, expect to have fun sailing through the Caribbean islands with an all-female crew gaining the experience and knowledge you need to feel more confident commanding a sailboat.

2

To feel supported …

Feeling safe to make mistakes and learn from them is our greatest asset. Everyone on your trip is there to build their sailing skills. You may be the one to help them and vice versa, we’re in this together.

3

Make progress on YOUR goals…

You’re coming to a retreat like this to focus on filling in the gaps in your sailing experience, I take that seriously. Before either of us even get on an airplane we will have a shortlist of your goals. They get built into the program itinerary.

4

A fantastic experience …

We will charter a boat ranging in size from 41’ – 47’ depending on the size of the group, my goal is to make sure we all have room for moments of solitude and connection.

5

Actively participate …

You are an active part of the crew for the boat, not a guest. Be prepared to take part in working the sails, helm, anchoring, navigation, cooking, and getting to shore to explore.

6

Have a new set of sailing seasters …

When you spend a week with a small group of amazing women you’re bound to walk away with lasting friendships. Who knows where those relationships will take your sailing journey.

Join us this October on a beautiful sailboat boat, sailing the Caribbean What to expect ... The Yacht We will charter a boat ranging in size from 41’ – 47’ depending on the size of the group, my goal is to make sure we all have space for moments of solitude and connection. Our yacht will have room for each crew member to have their own cabin, a minimum of two heads, a full galley, two helm stations, a swim platform, and a dinghy to make going ashore a breeze. Actively Participate Plan to be an active crew member taking part in working the sails, anchoring, cooking, and getting to shore to explore. Agile Itinerary Although you can find a rough outline of the week below, we will take time each morning to design a plan for that day. Our primary goal is to make sure we find the conditions each crew member needs to learn from. Weather will play a big part in planning each day, which gives us an opportunity to practice using navigation and weather apps to design the next day. Each trip will have time to snorkel, explore islands and relax … sailing is best done happily.

Have questions?

I have answers

The answer to your question may be in the FAQ section below, if not feel free to use the form at the bottom of the page to send me a message or set up a phone call

How much sailing experience do I need to come on one of these retreats?

Since the primary purpose of this sailing retreat is to practice various sailing skills, it is imperative that you have at least some basic sailing experience.

If you have no sailing experience, I would suggest at the very least taking the online sailing course on NauticEd, an ASA 101 Basic Keelboating, or a basic US Sailing in-person course.

Skipper Emily offers one-on-one sailing instruction as well.

Can I make payments to pay for my trip?

Yes! I understand a trip like this is an investment. Use my contact form to send me a message and we’ll get you set up so you have a cabin reserved!

What do I need to bring on a trip like this?

First, let’s talk about what NOT to bring. Do not bring a large, hard-sided suitcase. There is minimal space to store stuff on boats, there is a good chance you would be sharing your bed with your suitcase if you bring this.

Go with a soft-sided roller bag or a duffle bag, you honestly will not need much in the way of clothes. Less is truly more in this case.

Do I need a Passport?

Yes, unless you are a citizen of the country we would be going to, you will need a passport to enter the country

Do you offer a money back guarantee?

Be clear and concise in your answers. Focus on the positive and be honest about what you can deliver. Do not use large blocks of text as they are tiring to read. If you have a lot of information to get across, break into short paragraphs and consider using sub-headings to guide the reader.

How do I reserve my cabin?

A deposit is required to reserve your private cabin on any one of the retreats.

If you reserve your spot more than 6 months out from the trip the deposit is $100, for less than 6 months is $500.

The remaining balance for the trip is due in full 45 prior to our departure date.

Can I cancel my reservation for a refund?

Depending on when you need to cancel will define to what extent you can cancel.

Anytime 6 months prior to our departure date or more is fully refundable, no questions asked (well, I may ask out of curiosity and wonder)

60-45 days prior to our departure date will have a 50% refund. Any closer to the departure date will result in no refunds.

If a replacement can be found for your cabin, then a refund will be made for any reason up until 30 days prior to our departure date.

Can I transfer my reservation?

You may transfer your reservation to another crew member on the same trip up until 15 days prior to our departure.

If a replacement can be found for your cabin, then you can transfer all funds paid towards a future retreat for up to 1 year.
